Hermès Embraces Hollywood with Fall-Winter 2026 Collection
Hermès recently broke from its traditional European show locations, choosing the scenic Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles as the backdrop for its Fall-Winter 2026 'Second Chapter' collection. This exclusive event, dubbed “Silhouettes on the Horizon,” transported guests to a breathtaking hilltop setting reminiscent of the Parthenon, offering panoramic views of the Santa Monica Mountains and the Getty Museum. The collection, following its initial debut in Paris, marked a significant pivot towards embracing American West Coast influences.
The event drew a unique mix of attendees, including fashion editors, top stylists, and a surprising number of celebrities like Kerry Washington, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Miley Cyrus, Natasha Lyonne, and Keke Palmer. The audience itself became a vibrant display of Hermès devotion, with guests showcasing a myriad of the brand's iconic pieces, from silk scarf-print coats to an abundance of mini Kelly bags, signaling a shift in favored accessories. Artistic director Nadège Vanhée’s vision blended the brand's signature luxurious fabrics like soft leathers, suedes, and silks with a new, edgier aesthetic, featuring monochromatic looks in bold colors, such as buttery yellow and aqua blue, alongside elements like leather harnesses paired with sheer chiffon skirts, creating a 'posh-punk' vibe.
Vanhée articulated her design philosophy as an “interplay of tension and release,” pushing Hermès’ acclaimed craftsmanship beyond its established leather and silk legacy into more fluid and contemporary silhouettes. The collection presented chic leather suits, fitted jackets with midi skirts, leather shorts, and designs that drew inspiration from dancers. These versatile pieces, styled with understated hair and makeup, demonstrated an appeal that could span from Los Angeles's club-kid influencers to New York’s Park Avenue elite, subtly blending highbrow Topanga Canyon bohemian chic with classic French elegance. Vanhée's confident post-runway jog, contrasting with the typical reserved European designer exit, further solidified the show's dynamic and forward-thinking spirit.
This bold step by Hermès into the heart of Hollywood signifies a refreshing evolution for the luxury brand, indicating a readiness to infuse its timeless elegance with contemporary, cutting-edge styles. The collection's innovative designs and strategic presentation suggest a future where high fashion is more inclusive and reflective of diverse cultural landscapes, ultimately enriching the global fashion narrative.
